LOCKPORT -- Citizens Against Ruining the Environment ~ C.A.R.E. an all volunteer organization will host its’ 6th Free Earth Day Event, May 18, 10-4 @Historic Dellwood Park,  Rte 171 & Woods Dr

This Earth Day Event includes more than 50 Speakers, Exhibits and eco-friendly Vendors.  Food, live music, children's games and Morton Arboretum guided fun nature walks.

As Will County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation, it is critical that we continue to educate the public on global environmental problems, conservation, clean energy and how each individual can contribute to resolving these issues. We must Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

This year's speakers and exhibitors will address a variety of topics, including nuclear energy, global warming, toxic consumer products, radon indoor air quality, private wells and groundwater, recycling, horticulture, conservation and other topics.  Live presentations include Big Run Wolf Ranches’ wolves and coyotes, Dave DiNaso’s Traveling World of Reptiles (weather permitting) see Honey Bees at work and worms composting.

Also at Dellwood, kids can bring their Earth Day projects for a chance to win a $30, $40 or $50 prize.

Will County Resolution

Thanks to County board member Ron Svara, R-Homer Glen. Will County Board and County Executive Larry Walsh declared May 18th as Earth Day in support of Citizens Against Ruining the Environments’ educational efforts.

Recycling

Bring your old electronics to Vintage Tech, old and new shoes to Share your Soles, and recycle old eyeglasses. Working Bikes, recycles old bicycles, refurbishes and distributes them for use in impoverished areas in the United States and overseas. Working Bikes also uses stationary bikes to generate energy that powers household appliances such as blenders.

Special Thanks to Cosponsors, Chevron, Material Service, State Farm Agents Cindy Verhoek & Maria Capetillo, Lockport High School Interact Club & Dellwood Foundation and the many donators and volunteers that make this event possible.

If you are an "earth-friendly" vendor or wish to set up an environmental exhibit, call or Ellen at 815- 834-1611, Carol at 815-793-4678
